She was born on 23rd March in 1953. She was always bright in studies. She pursued her BSc in zoology and biology from Bangalore University to get in a medical school but unfortunately she didn’t get scholarship for it. 

By her father suggestion and also because of no other option she opted for malting and brewing. And she was the only women in her college who enrolled in brewing course. After her degree she started working as a trainee brewer in Carlton and united breweries, Melbourne. After working there for four years she felt it was a man’s job and started searching for other jobs instead. And just before she could get the job she found a company and joined Biocon biochemical limited, as a trainee and then in the same year she also stared the Indian arm in the company. 

She rented a garage space by investing 10,000, she faced many difficulties as she didn’t have proper infrastructure, there was no proper equipments, unhygienic labs, poor quality water and also her first employee was a retired garage mechanic.

But she never gave up, she faced all the challenges and by her hardwork soon Biocon India became the first company in India to be able to manufacture enzymes and export them to the United States and Europe. Soon after that she got the recognition and in the year 1987 Narayanan Vaghul of ICICI Ventures supported the creation of a venture capital fund of $250,000. And this was the first time her company got a chance to expand its research and development efforts majorly. And now she is Indian self made billionaire and entrepreneur who achieved her goal by her struggle and  hardwork.

This was the success story of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
